From August 1 to 5, the final of the 17th National College Students Chemical Design Competition in South China was held in Fuzhou University. The team of "Taking Nitrile and Using Macro" (members: Mo Xingyu, Zhou Bailong, Deng Tianzi, Wang Su, Xue Yutao) played an outstanding role under the guidance of teachers such as Liu Huajie, Yang Hai, Li Yonglin, Cui Haishuai and Deng Renjie, and won the special prize of South China Division.

        During the preparation period, the instructors patiently guided and strictly instructed the students to horn their skills, and the team worked very hard, discussed repeatedly and revised patiently, which fine-tuned the works in process route, separation technology, automatic control, equipment design and environmental protection.

        The design of "Taking Nitrile and Using Macro" team use adipic acid, liquid ammonia and waste smoke gas as raw materials, and produce 250,000 tons of adiponitrile and 230,000 tons of ammonium bicarbonate by adipic acid ammoniation process, which has the characteristics of "safety, environmental protection, energy saving, emission reduction, economy, innovation, applicability". The design is displayed in multiple dimensions by using three-dimensional modeling software such as Plant 3D. This design work shows that the chemical engineering students in our school can comprehensively apply the professional knowledge of chemical engineering, actively explore and innovate the related technologies of green chemical industry and clean production of adiponitrile, against the backdrop of localization and rapid development of adiponitrile production technology. Their expertise will play an active role in making China a major adiponitrile production country and a technological power. 
 
        The National College Students' Chemical Design Competition is a Class A scientific and technological creation competition included in the "University Discipline Competition List". It is also the chemical comprehensive discipline competition with the largest scale, the highest level and the widest influence. The whole selection region is divided into seven sub-divisions, Northwest, Southwest, North China, South China, East China, Central China and Northeast China to select outstanding teams to participate in the national finals. A total of 417 teams from 75 universities signed up for the competition, with more than 2,000 college students. After more than 60 detailed online evaluations in three major areas, including document design, engineering drawing and application of modern design methods, 60 teams were selected to advance to the finals of the competition area.
